Great Masters of the 20th Century –Pianist Artur Rubinstein
How did our attention shift from the composer to the performer? Why do we listen repeatedly to the same compositions played by various artists? Can we really tell the difference between a performer whose admission ticket costs 200$ and one whose ticket costs 10$ (the latter also inclusive of complementary coffee and cake in the intermission…)? In this lecture we will attempt to unfold some of these issues, while exploring the enthralling life story and enchanting piano playing of one of the immense musical figures of the 20th Century.
