Frédéric Chopin – “The Thunder of Cannons Feathered by Bouquets of Flowers”.

Those were German composer Robert Schumann’s words, describing the music of Chopin, after the two met in Leipzig in 1835. In this lecture we will unfold the intriguing life story of the prominent Polish hero who lived most of his life outside his home land that adored him so. We will discuss the major influences on his style and how he implemented the musical ideals of his time in his compositions. All the while reviewing the political struggles of a nation seeking sovereignty from the claws of the Russian bear.
